Ancient Roman ovens unearthed in San Pedro de Alcantara

Recent strong waves near the sand dunes of El Ingenio in San Pedro, have uncovered two ovens, presumably from Roman times. The remains are located near the paleo-christian basilica of Vega del Mar. Work is continuing with the help of Junta de Andalucia in order to properly evaluate the findings. A study in 2018 had already indicated the possible presence of archaeological remains south of the basilica, where the two ovens were discovered.
