Andalucia continues on its path of producing and consuming its own renewable energy in homes, companies and industries, which contributes to reducing polluting emissions, increasing economic savings and achieving greater independence from the electricity grid. In the first nine months of 2021, a total of 11,515 Andalusians decided to start producing their own electricity by adding to their own consumption, which represents a growth of more than double compared to the same period in 2020, when 5,613 facilities were registered, according to the data. of legalization of self-consumption facilities of up to 100kW provided by the European Ministry of Finance and Finance.
Of these facilities, 28% are located in the province of Seville; 14% in Malaga, 13% in the provinces of Jaén and Córdoba, 12% in Cádiz, 11% in Granada, 5% in the province of Almería and 4% in that of Huelva. In the period between October 2019 and September 2021, there are already 20,600 Andalusians that currently generate their own clean energy, a figure that, according to the Andalusian Energy Agency estimates, will greatly increase when the year closes thanks in part to the incentive programs currently underway and managed by this entity through which this type of facility is supported.
An example of this is the line of aid for solar installations of the Regional Program for Sustainable Energy Development (co-financed with ERDF funds), which includes self-consumption, which reopened last May and to which the Andalusian Government has allocated just in the last six months a total of 69 million euros with which it is expected to attend some 14,000 requests (received or in the process of presentation).
On December 2, the Andalusian Energy Agency also opened the call for the State Program of incentives for self-consumption and storage with renewable energy sources and the implementation of renewable thermal systems in Andalucia, endowed with 97.2 million euros. A program that is having a good reception among Andalusian citizens and companies, having received in just one month more than 3,800 applications, with an associated incentive of 73 million euros.
In the first half of 2021, the new self-consumption facilities in Andalusia contributed a total of 77 new megawatts of installed power that are added to the renewable electricity generation park deployed in the Andalusian community.
Promotion of self-consumption
On the other hand, at the ninth meeting of the Self-consumption Roundtable held in mid-December, a new working group called Self-consumption was presented at REDEJA, led by the Energy Network of the Junta de Andalucía managed by the Andalusian Energy Agency, with which it is intended to join forces for the start-up of photovoltaic solar installations for self-consumption in buildings and facilities of the regional Administration, carrying out personalized advice from different entities of the Board.
The aforementioned Bureau of Self-consumption is working on the following tasks: the improvement and streamlining of the processing of the facilities; the programming of training actions aimed at groups that can participate in decision-making to implement these facilities, such as farm administrators or local agents; the preparation of general information on the possibilities offered by facilities for collective self-consumption and energy communities; and, finally, the drafting of technical and urban recommendations for their proper development.
